About RIBS

The Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) began operations in 1980 and was the first Aboriginal organisation to be allocated a broadcasting license. CAAMA serves The Aboriginal people of Central Australia through an association regulated under the Incorporations Act, and its objectives focus on the social, cultural and economic advancement of Aboriginal peoples.

CAAMA is passionate about promoting and sharing Aboriginal culture, language, dance, and music while generating economic and social benefits in the form of training and  employment.

CAAMA Radio’s commitment to remote broadcasting is central to its philosophy and the station is funded to provide support to  a number of RIBS studios and broadcasters on remote communities. Remote operators alternate to deliver a two hours  show presented in aboriginal languages and english which can be heard  over the CAAMA network between 2pm to 4pm CST.

Allan Neilson is the Manager for CAAMA’s remote broadcasting service which oversees the operations of 12 remote radio stations.
