In this bulletin:

  • The Constitutional Alteration Bill, which sets up the Voice To Parliament referendum, has passed the Senate this morning, with a vote of 52 in support and 19 against. A standing ovation and applause broke out on the floor of parliament when the vote was read out. Now that it’s passed the Senate, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese can set a referendum date which must be no sooner than two months and no later than six months from June 19.
  • The Federal Government has given the Northern Territory $50 million dollars to go towards boosting public housing as the National housing crisis continues. It’s part of the Federal Government’s $2 billion Social Housing Fund Accelerator payment…the funding will be provided to States and Territories within the next two weeks, and will deliver thousands of new social homes across Australia.  $50 million dollars each goes to the NT, the ACT and Tasmania…the bigger states…New South Wales gets $610 million….South Australia gets $135 million…Queensland gets $398 million…Victoria gets $496 million.
  • In the AFL…and a couple of one-sided clashes on the weekend during round 14…
  • The round started last Thursday night with Port Adelaide consolidating their position on top of the AFL ladder, defeating Geelong at Adelaide Oval…16-14-110 to the Cats 11-6-72.
  • The struggling Carlton bounced back with strong win over the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG yesterday…Carlton 18-12-120 to the Suns 8-13-61.
