Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has set a time frame for a referendum on constitutional recognition and the Voice to parliament.
Addressing a vocal audience at the recent Woodford Folk Festival Mr Albanese promised the referendum to constitutionally recognize Indigenous people and enshrine the Voice to Parliament would be held by the end of this year.
The Prime Minister dismissed criticism that detail around the the Voice t o Parliament was lacking and said five years of consultation about the proposed body had taken place – including scrutiny by parliamentary committees and other inquiries.
You wont get constitutional change without putting it to a vote… that is what is certain !
