Town camp housing boom – “11 new homes to be completed by the end of October.”

The Territory Labor Government’s Labor has announced 11 new homes to be completed by the end of October, 2022.

The works are part of the Territory Labor Government’s innovative $2.1 billion remote housing program.

The Minister for Housing and Homelands Selena Uibo has said, “This is a job-creating project that provides sustainable employment and training opportunities for locals, including many who live in these town camps and will be helping to build homes for their families.”

Works continue to rollout across 11 town camps including Karnte, Larapinta Valley, Little Sisters, Morris Soak, Trucking Yards, Charles Creek, Hoppys, Hidden Valley, Ilpeye Ilpeye, Warlpiri and Mount Nancy after tenders were awarded in May.

The project will see the construction of 64 homes that will boost the number of bedrooms by 238. Around 30 homes will be demolished because they are no longer fit-for-purpose.

Five Territory companies, including two Aboriginal Business Enterprises, will carry out the works. They are: Blueprint, Bullant Building, Asbuild, Tangentyere Constructions, and LA Build.
