According to the latest census data, more than 812,000 people identify as Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander or both. That’s an increase of 25% since the last census in 2016. - The new federal government has started to make moves to scrap the card after a recent report from the National Audit Office found no evidence it was making its intended objective.
