
Natasha Fyles says she was was the unanimous choice of the Labor caucus to be the new leader of Territory Labor following the shock resignation of Michael Gunner earlier this week.

Ms Fyles was first elected to parliament in 2012 and promoted to the frontbench after Labor’s landslide win in 2016. She has been the NT Health Minister since 2016 and was the Attorney-General between 2016 and 2020. She is also current Leader of Government Business and the Minister for Alcohol Policy, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Minister for Major Events, and Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing. The 43 year old member for the seat of Nightcliffe becomes the second born and bred Territorian and first territory born woman to take up the leadership role. The position of Deputy Chief Minister is still to be announced and a cabinet reshuffle is expected following the win by Ms Fyles .
