In today’s bulletin (6pm):

  • Lawyers will argue whether a NT police officer charged with the alleged murder of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker in Yuendumu in 2019, might be immune from prosecution under laws designed to protect police from criminal charges for any actions while doing their job.
  • NSW has recorded 136 new local cases of COVID-19, a new record in this current outbreak.Victoria recorded 14 new, locally acquired cases of COVID-19. Queensland health authorities have confirmed a flight attendant has tested positive for the Delta variant of COVID-19 overnight after flying between Brisbane and a number of regional centres. The woman crewed six flights between Brisbane and Longreach, Gladstone and Hervey Bay. South Australia has recorded just one new case of COVID-19.
  • A survey of more than 8000 NSW Aboriginal hospital patients between 2014 and 2019 reveals they received better quality care in hospitals when they’re being supported by Indigenous healthcare workers,
  • The CLP Territory Member for Barkly says recent crime statistics show government and local organisations can do more through the Barkly Regional Deal to reduce offences in Tennant Creek.
