Strong Voices: Fracking announcement a slap in the face of NAIDOC Week’s theme

Earlier this week, the Federal Government announced a grant to help gas corporations frack the Beetaloo Basin. Advocacy group Get up called the announcement an insult to First Nations communities, Traditional Owners and said the public money to help gas companies destroy the land, water, and sacred culturally significant sites.

And the Australian Education Union or AEU say an ICAC investigation into the conduct of a former principal of the Millingimbi School located in remote West Arnham Land stemmed back many years. We hear from the NT Branch Secretary of the AEU on that report.

Also a program designed to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with a stroke which has seen success in regional and remote communities in NSW will continue with additional funding from Medical Research Future Fund.
