The Mayor of Alice Springs Matt Paterson has responded to Northern Territory Police Minister Nicole Manison after she dismissed his call for additional help from the Commonwealth to tackle the towns growing crime problems. Mayor Paterson has written to more than 40 of Australia’s most influential politicians calling for help to get “a town at breaking point” back under control.
Speaking in Alice Springs Last week Police Minister Nicole Manison acknowledged there had been a summer crime spike, but says there’s no need to seek any kind of federal government help from the commonwealth to tackle the escalating problem.Ms Manison said she believes “the best strategies are always local strategies.”
