Save our oval protest rally Mparntwe Alice Springs

The Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal or NT CAT will be taking evidence today over the compulsory acquisition of ANZAC Oval for the proposed National Aboriginal Art Gallery.

Community owners and members of the Arrernte community gathered before the hearing today voicing their opposition to the acquisition, with Doris Stuart saying that the gallery should be located south of the gap.

The Alice Springs Town Council has formally objected to the acquisition, while NT CAT will provide a report on its review later this year with Infrastructure Minister Eva Lawler to decide on the acquisition after that.
